Arrival of delegations
On Sunday, March 11th, 2024, all teachers' and students' delegations arrived in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. Teachers and students from schools from Turkey, Poland,Spain, Portugal and Greece met in order to set it in motion the fourth actual cooperative part of the project. Two teachers and four students for each partner school were selected according to clear criteria from each participating country.

DAY 1 - Monday, 11th of March, 2024
On Monday, the 11th of March, the visit commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony at Classical Lyceum, where greetings from local authorities set the stage for a day of exploration and collaboration. A welcoming concert by students further infused the atmosphere with energy and enthusiasm, paving the way for delegations to introduce themselves and share insights about their countries and schools. Throughout the morning, participants engaged in cultural communication and linguistic exchange. A guided tour of the school provided further insights into the educational landscape of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, while presentations on climate change underscored the urgency of environmental stewardship.
In the afternoon, participants embarked on a guided tour of the town, immersing themselves in the history and cultural heritage of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. From landmarks to bustling marketplaces, every corner of the city offered new opportunities for exploration and discovery. The day concluded with a welcome dinner, where participants had the chance to unwind and connect with one another amidst the warm embrace of Sicilian hospitality.

DAY 2 - Tuesday, 12th of March 2024, Visit to Castroreale
Tuesday dawned with an excursion to Castroreale, where participants visited the Human Science Lyceum where they engaged in activities regarding the protection of the fauna & flora of the area, gaining precious insights into the actual natural world. and embarked on a full-day back in history at the premises of the "most ancient village in Sicily". Against the backdrop of lush greenery and pristine landscapes, they gained firsthand insights into forest fire prevention and environmental conservation efforts. A guided tour of Castroreale, a medieval village steeped in history, offered a glimpse into Sicily's rich cultural tapestry, further deepening participants' appreciation for the region's natural and cultural heritage.
DAY 3 - Wednesday, 13th of March, 2024, Messina & the Ganzirri Lakes
Wednesday brought a visit to the University of Messina, where participants attended a seminar on climate changes in the Mediterranean area, gaining valuable insights from experts in the field. A lunch near Ganzirri Lakes provided a picturesque setting for further discussion and reflection, while a visit to the Regional Museum in Messina offered a window into the region's storied past. The day concluded with free time in Piazza Duomo, where participants had the opportunity to explore the bustling heart of Messina at their leisure.
DAY 4 - Thursday, 14th of March, 2024 , Taormina
Thursday saw participants journeying to Taormina, where they visited the Ancient Theatre, Porta Messina, and other historic landmarks, immersing themselves in the timeless beauty of Sicily's cultural treasures. A free lunch and leisure time in Taormina provided opportunities for relaxation and exploration, before participants returned to Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, where they were greeted by their host families.
DAY 5 - Friday, 15th of March, 2024
Friday commenced with a visit to the center of firefighters and a workshop about gamification, offering participants practical insights into forest fire prevention strategies.
A meeting among coordinators further facilitated collaboration and knowledge exchange, setting the stage for a certificates ceremony and farewell party at the Auditorium. Against the backdrop of music and laughter, participants bid farewell to their newfound friends and departed with memories that would last a lifetime.
Evaluation & Outcomes
